The copper will fizz in the baking soda solution as it neutralises the acid making the copper safe to handle once again. Using thicker more expensive sheets of copper will retain a smooth overall surface with only your engraving lines to interrupt it.

These materials offer a crisp clean look and are easy to fabricate. For laser cut copper the result is a more textured finish. Laser engraving copper is similar but instead of using the laser beam to cut through the copper it engraves the surface. Clean for a high shine finish.
